SET Entrance Test Preparation for Symbiosis International (Deemed University)

The Symbiosis Entrance Test, commonly known as SET, is conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to selected undergraduate programmes. SET scores are accepted by participating Symbiosis institutes for courses such as BBA, BCA, Economics, Liberal Arts, Mass Communication, Applied Statistics and other programmes. SET is conducted as a computer-based test at designated examination centres. The examination contains 60 objective questions and has a duration of 60 minutes. It consists of four mandatory sections: General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Analytical and Logical Reasoning.

General English questions may include reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, sentence correction, synonyms, antonyms, para jumbles and contextual word usage. The section evaluates language proficiency and the ability to understand written information.

Quantitative Aptitude may include percentages, ratios, averages, profit and loss, time and work, speed and distance, number systems, algebra, geometry and data interpretation.

General Awareness questions can cover current affairs, business, economics, politics, history, geography, science, sports and important national or international events. Analytical and Logical Reasoning may include arrangements, sequences, coding-decoding, syllogisms, analogies, statement-based conclusions and logical puzzles.
Candidates should begin with a diagnostic assessment to identify their strong and weak topics. General English preparation should include daily reading, vocabulary revision and grammar exercises. Students must practise short comprehension passages under timed conditions.

Quantitative preparation requires conceptual clarity, formula revision and regular calculation practice. Reasoning questions should be solved by arranging the given information into tables, diagrams or short notes.

Students should follow current affairs daily and prepare concise notes for weekly revision. Since candidates have approximately one minute per question, speed is extremely important. Full-length mock tests must be attempted under actual time limits and followed by a detailed performance analysis.
The Global Course SET programme covers General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Analytical and Logical Reasoning. Every section begins with concept-based instruction before progressing to chapter-wise exercises and sectional assessments.

The course also includes speed-building techniques, question-selection strategies, current-affairs updates, vocabulary practice and complete mock examinations. Students receive personalised feedback to improve weaker areas while maintaining consistent performance in stronger sections.
SET carries a total of 60 marks, with each correct answer carrying one mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Students should therefore attempt all 60 questions after using elimination techniques wherever necessary.

Candidates may appear for SET on both announced test dates. If they take the examination twice, the higher score is considered for the admission process. Programme-wise ranks are made available for programmes for which candidates have completed registration and payment.

The SET score is generally used to shortlist applicants for further institute-specific selection stages. These stages may include Personal Interaction, a Writing Ability Test or other assessments, depending on the selected programme and institute.
