NPAT Entrance Test Preparation for NMIMS University

The NMIMS Programs After Twelfth (NPAT) is an entrance examination conducted by SVKM’s NMIMS for admission to various undergraduate programmes. These include BBA, B.Com, B.Sc. Finance, B.Sc. Economics, BBA FinTech, BBA Branding and Advertising, BA Liberal Arts and other selected courses. NPAT is a computer-based entrance examination conducted at authorised test centres. The exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions that must be completed within 100 minutes. It is divided into three major sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning. Each section contains 40 questions and carries 40 marks. There is no negative marking in the examination.

The Quantitative Reasoning section may include questions based on arithmetic, percentages, profit and loss, ratios, averages, algebra, number systems, geometry, statistics, probability and data interpretation. The section tests numerical understanding, calculation speed and problem-solving ability.

Logical Reasoning questions may cover arrangements, coding and decoding, number and letter sequences, syllogisms, statement-based conclusions, data sufficiency, visual reasoning and analytical puzzles. Students must understand relationships and identify logically correct answers.

Verbal Reasoning evaluates grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, sentence correction, para jumbles, contextual word usage and verbal analysis. Students need good reading speed, comprehension and command of English.
Students should start their preparation with a diagnostic test to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Quantitative concepts should be studied chapter by chapter, followed by regular practice to improve calculation speed.

Logical Reasoning requires practice with different puzzle patterns. Candidates should organise the given information before selecting an answer. For Verbal Reasoning, daily reading, vocabulary revision and grammar practice are highly beneficial.

Timed sectional tests and full-length mock examinations are essential. After every test, students should analyse incorrect answers, unanswered questions and time-consuming problems. Since there is no negative marking, candidates should attempt every question using elimination techniques whenever necessary.
